2023 Chevrolet Silverado: Common Defects and Lemon Law Claims

The Chevrolet Silverado holds the title of the most popular consumer truck in the US, maintaining its  position as the top-selling truck nationally for over three decades. However, despite its popularity, the  2023 Silverado models have raised concerns due to various issues.

If you’ve recently purchased a new Silverado, it’s essential to be aware of potential electrical, engine,  and powertrain problems. We’ve compiled a list of some of the most frequently reported issues with  2023 Chevy Silverado’s. While not every truck will experience these problems, many 2023 Silverado’s are affected, making owners eligible to file a lemon law claim against Chevrolet.

Navigating Lemon Law Claims for Defective Silverado’s

If your Silverado exhibits any of the defects mentioned above, you may hold Chevrolet accountable under California’s robust consumer protection laws. The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act requires manufacturers to repair manufacturing defects occurring within the warranty period. If repairs are unsuccessful and the issue persists, you may be eligible for a lemon claim.

However, specific criteria must be met for a lemon claim:

1. The vehicle must have been purchased in California within 18 months or 18,000 miles,  whichever occurs first.

2. The defect must materially affect the truck’s safety, utility, or value.

3. The carmaker must have had a reasonable number of attempts to repair the issue, typically four attempts for value or utility defects and two for safety issues.

Meeting these criteria makes your Silverado eligible for a lemon claim, which could result in a full refund or vehicle replacement.
